Chili-Fried Morel Mushroom Recipe

Ingredients Required

  1. 10-12 fresh or reconstituted dry morel mushrooms
  2. 1/4 tsp red chili powder
  3. 2 tsp Flour
  4. 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Salted butter for frying (half a stick)
  7. Lemon Juice

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Clean the morel mushrooms with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or debris. Cut them into small pieces and set them aside. Or, reconstitute them by letting them sit in a bowl of cool water for 30-45 mins.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add flour, garlic powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add water slowly to the bowl and mix until the batter is smooth and thick.
  4. Heat butter in a deep pan at medium to high heat until the butter is 50% melted.
  5. Dip the morel mushroom pieces into the spice batter and coat them thoroughly.
  6. Gently drop the coated mushrooms into the hot butter and fry them until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  7. Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried mushrooms from the butter and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess butter
  8. Thats it! Serve the Chili-Fried Morel Mushrooms with a splash of lemon juice, and enjoy one of the best tasting things ever!
